"Drive It Away" is a personal collaboration of a two-time cancer survivor, Rebecca Single with the vibrant crooner, Erica Nicole. Soul wrenching, potent, and revealing, the co-authors reignite the emotional turmoil a cancer patient and their friends and family undertake to fight this crazy disease.
There is a desperation one feels when leaving loved ones, especially during poor health when you really do not know if you will ever see your friend or loved one again. Tapping into bitter-sweet experiences, the song writing became cathartic, emotionally draining and deeply personal to know most humans have to experience this in their lifetime; especially care-givers, children, best friends, spouses and family members.
This is a beautifully performed song which can alleviate fear in people who are afraid to become involved in helping a family member or friend with a cancer diagnosis and gives positive feedback to those who are brave and willing participants in seeing people through the see-saw experience of long illnesses. It gives hope of survival, taps into Americana via summer-time memories and leaves the listener feeling hopeful and energized. |

November 2008, our ethereal Erica Nicole was inspired and compelled to record, Drive It Away, a soul wrenching, potent and revealingly emotional song with a message about survival and hope. During her interview at a local radio station, 92.5 FM, near Atlanta, GA, Erica was promoting theAmerican Cancer Society's 6th Annual Cattle Barons' Ball when a friend of the radio station, and now number one fan, called in to introduce herself as Rebecca Single, a local song-writer, musician and 2 time cancer survivor. She was both intrigued and touched by Erica's dedication to fly across to the country, to perform for her charity in the middle of preparing for her new CD! She asked Erica Nicole what her motivation was and learned she too had been deeply touched on a personal level by a family members experience with cancer.
